Mosaic & Feature Tiling in Auckland
Feature walls, niches, patterns and mosaics — the detail work where craftsmanship shows most.
Mosaic and feature tiling is where a tiler’s skill is impossible to hide. Tiny tiles, tight patterns and precise set-out leave nowhere for a shortcut to disappear. It’s the kind of work Marko, a Croatian master tiler with over 15 years’ experience, does best — feature tiling across Auckland that turns a wall or a niche into the thing everyone notices.
Detail Work, Done Properly
Anyone can lay a plain wall of large tiles. Mosaics and feature work are different — they demand patience, a good eye and precise set-out, because every joint is on show and any drift stands out immediately. That’s exactly why mosaic and feature tiling rewards genuine craftsmanship, and why it’s some of our favourite work to do.

Mosaic & Feature Tiling FAQs
What’s the difference between mosaic and feature tiling?
Mosaic tiling uses small tiles — glass, stone or porcelain — usually supplied on mesh sheets. Feature tiling is the broader idea: accent walls, niches, borders, patterned floors and the decorative detail that lifts a room. We do both, and they often work together.
Where does mosaic work best in a home?
Shower floors, splashbacks, feature walls, niches and borders are the most popular. Mosaic is especially good on shower floors, where the extra grout lines improve grip and follow the fall to the drain.
Do mosaic shower floors get slippery?
Generally the opposite — smaller tiles mean more grout lines, which give better grip underfoot than one large, smooth tile. That’s a big part of why mosaics are a classic choice for wet-area floors.
Is mosaic and feature tiling more expensive than plain tiling?
Per square metre it usually costs more, because it’s slow, detailed work with far more tiles and grout lines to set true. We quote it honestly for your specific area and design — no guesswork.
Can you match a pattern or design I’ve seen?
Yes. Bring us your tiles, a photo or an idea and we’ll set it out properly — alignment, symmetry and grout colour are all planned before the first tile goes on, so the finished detail looks intentional, not approximate.
Is the grout in mosaic harder to keep clean?
There’s more grout to look after, so we recommend a quality grout and sealing where it suits. Done well and sealed, mosaic detail stays looking sharp with normal cleaning.
