Grout and silicone don’t last forever. Over the years grout stains, cracks and washes out, and the silicone around your shower and bath goes mouldy or peels away. We rake out and replace tired grout, and strip and renew the silicone around showers, baths and wet areas, so your bathroom looks fresh again and the joints are clean and sealed. When the tiling and the waterproofing underneath are still sound, it’s one of the highest-value, lowest-cost ways to bring a tiled bathroom back to life.

A leaking shower is one of the most common problems in Auckland bathrooms — and one of the most misunderstood. It’s tempting to think a regrout or fresh silicone will fix it, and sometimes, when the problem really is just surface grout or a worn silicone joint, it does. But if water is getting through because the waterproofing underneath has failed, no amount of regrouting or resealing will fix it for good — it only hides the problem while the leak keeps doing damage behind the tiles. So we don’t patch and hope. As an approved PS3 waterproofing author, we assess where the water is actually coming from and tell you straight: if it’s a surface fix, we’ll do it; if the waterproofing has gone, the honest, long-term answer is usually to rebuild the shower properly and re-waterproof to the New Zealand Building Code. We’d rather give you the right advice than an unrealistic promise.

Do you take on small tiling jobs and repairs?

Yes — no job is too small. A single cracked tile, a regrout or a silicone replacement is just as welcome as a full bathroom, and we bring the same standard to it.

Can you match my existing tiles?

We match as closely as possible from what’s available. Exact matches aren’t always possible with older or discontinued tiles, but we’ll tell you honestly what to expect before we start, and often it’s close enough that the repair blends right in.

My shower is leaking — can you just regrout or reseal it?

Sometimes, yes — when the leak really is only surface grout or a worn silicone joint. But if the waterproofing underneath has failed, regrouting or resealing won’t fix it for good; it just hides the leak while the damage continues. We’ll assess where the water is actually coming from and tell you honestly whether a surface fix will do, or whether the shower needs to be rebuilt and re-waterproofed properly.

How do I know if my shower has a bigger problem?

Common signs are stained or lifting grout, peeling silicone, a musty smell, or damp patches on nearby walls or ceilings below. Any of those are worth getting looked at early — the sooner we assess it, the more options you have and the less damage there is to put right.

Is regrouting worth it, or should I re-tile?

If the tiles and the waterproofing are sound, regrouting and replacing the silicone can make a bathroom look years younger for a fraction of the cost of re-tiling. If the waterproofing underneath has failed, a proper rebuild is the better long-term call. We’ll assess it honestly and tell you which one you actually need.

How long does a regrout or silicone replacement take?

Most regrouting and silicone jobs are a one- to two-day job depending on size and drying times. We’ll give you a realistic timeline with your quote.
